Water and Sanitation in Ghana
How will Africa break the circle of poverty and starvations if its children waste precious school hours looking for water which will cause diarrhea and lose more days of school? If they don’t die of diseases, they will die of starvation. This is what is driving the Board of Stichting Shemamie International to seek help so that we can speed up the progress of making this precious commodity accessible to many schools.
We are limited only by time and funding. We want to enable 8 villages have access to clean, safe, drinking water. That means an average of 400 children a school, 3,200 children a year, parents and the surrounding communities, will benefit from:
*Increased number of students graduating on time and move on to higher education
*Decreased number deaths of children caused by malaria and diarrhea
*More hours invested in economic work than spent on searching for water
*Overall peace among the communities as they become productive and build stable economies
